Metallization of piezoelectric ceramic sensor
The standard electrode material is silver or nickel-gold alloy. The layout of the electrode needs special consideration because different electrodes have different uses such as feedback electrodes, surround electrodes or some other required electrodes. In the metallization process, we can leave the insulating side or not. If the insulating side needs to be left, it should usually be ≤ 0.3 mm. Generally speaking, the polarization direction in the sensor is particularly important, so we will mark the positive direction of the product in most cases.
Application of Piezoelectric Ceramic Components in Sensors
Ultrasonic distance sensor
During distance measurement, the piezoelectric ceramic sheet emits a short ultrasonic wave toward the object. When the ultrasonic wave reaches the object, it is reflected back and received by the same piece of piezoelectric ceramic. The purpose of distance measurement can be achieved. Ceramics simultaneously take into account the functions of transmitting and receiving. Usually, a layer of adaptation layer is attached to the emitting surface of the piezoelectric ceramic to make the transducer have acoustic impedance in the air. The frequency of use of the transducer is mainly based on the specific application requirements and resolution. The higher the frequency, the higher the resolution but the shorter the amplitude, and vice versa. For transducers of different shapes and sizes, if it is a spherical transducer, it will produce longer spherical radiation, and if the wavelength is shorter, it will produce linear radiation. Generally speaking, we prefer to use directional radiation, and the testable distance of this method is between 0.25 10m.
