According to news on August 2, it was reported that NVIDIA and ARM had already submitted approval requirements in China at the beginning of this year, but the domestic anti-monopoly agency is still processing it, and it is still too early to make an approval decision.
On the one hand, we are negotiating with the transaction parties, and on the other hand, we have to take into account the opinions of all parties who oppose the transaction. ARM also has many domestic customers. They are worried that once ARM is acquired by a US company, it will lose the right to use ARM.
In addition, NVIDIA’s acquisition of ARM has a special problem in China’s approval process, that is, the infighting of the ARM joint venture in China. The battle between China CEO Wu Xiongang and ARM headquarters will also affect the approval process. Previously, NVIDIA stated in the acquisition that ARM will continue to operate independently in the future, but such a statement does not reassure customers around the world, after all, there are too many variables in the future.
NVIDIA announced in September last year that it would spend $40 billion (approximately 270 billion) to acquire ARM. The transaction has 18 months to complete legal approval. However, there are many places where the neck gets stuck. In addition to the impact of the EU adjournment, the domestic approval process is not so easy.
